CA Award – Artists’ Choice
Of all of the awards bestowed upon the CAA artists at the annual Cowboy Artists of America Show, this particular award is especially meaningful. Voted on by the Active CAA members, the artist who is awarded this honor has received a nod of approval from his peers for the best over-all exhibition.

The Kieckhefer Award for Best of Show is chosen by the judges from the gold medal winners of the show categories oil, sculpture, water solubles, drawing and other media.
The Traditional Cowboy Arts Association Award for Best Portrayal of a Cowboy Subject was first
presented in 2008.

Ray Swanson Memorial Award
The Ray Swanson Memorial Award was added at the request of the Swanson Family with full CAA member support, to honor longtime CAA member, Ray Swanson, who passed away in 2004. The award is an artifact from Ray’s personal collection. The award is given for a work of art that best communicates a moment in time and captures the emotion of that moment.
In 2008, there was a tie for the Ray Swanson Award, and both Martin Grelle and Herb Mignery were honored with the award.
