
The 36th Annual Phippen Memorial Western Art Show and Sale on May 29-31, on the historic Courthouse Plaza in Prescott, Ariz. The event will include art by CAs Wayne Baize, John Coleman, Don Crowley, Loren Entz, Fred Fellows, David Halbach, Oreland Joe, T.D. Kelsey, Herb Mignery (Emeritus), Bill Nebeker, Dave Powell, Clark Kelley Price and Fritz White (Deceased).
George Phippen was a founding member of the Cowboy Artists of America, and the Phippen Museum in Prescott honors his memory.

CAA member Bill Owen was selected as one of only two contemporary artists invited to have their art on display in The Horse. This long-running, traveling exhibition opened at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City and will exhibit in four other locations: The Field Museum in Chicago; the Abu Dhabi Cultural Center, United Arab Emirates; the San Diego Natural History Museum; and the Canadian Museum of Civilization in Gatineau. The Museum of Western Art in Kerrville, Texas, loaned Bill Owen’s 1973 piece, No Place for a Gunsel, to this exhibition from their permanent collection.

The prestigious, invitational 2010 Prix de West show will feature CA members Harley Brown, Tom Browning, John Coleman, Tim Cox, Bruce Greene, Martin Grelle, Oreland Joe, Mehl Lawson, Herb Mignery (Emeritus), Paul Moore, John Moyers, Bill Nebeker, Jim Norton, Bill Owen and R. S. Riddick. The Prix de West show will run from June 11 through Sept. 6, 2010, in Oklahoma City at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum. The sale night is June 12.

Wayne Baize’s oil painting, A Bright Future, will be featured as the signature piece at the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame & Museum’s annual show. America’s Horse in Art will run from Aug. 14 through Nov. 13, 2010, at the Museum in Amarillo, Texas.

Bill Owen has been named one of the 2010 Arizona Culturekeepers Honorees. Owen was selected for this honor for his authentic portrayal of Arizona history through his art. Owen and nine others who positively impact the state will be honored at the Arizona Culturekeepers Induction Luncheon at Kierland Resort in Scottsdale on Sunday, Sept. 19. 2010.
Arizona Culturekeepers is a program designed to celebrate Arizonans who have made a positive impact on the Grand Canyon State’s history, culture, environment and/or economy. The Arizona Culturekeepers is done in conjunction with the Sharlot Hall Museum, Arizona Historical Society, Historian Marshall Trimble and The Westin Kierland Resort & Spa.
